What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device — your phone, tablet, or computer — when you visit. They are stored locally on your device and sent back to the website on your next visit so it can remember things about you or your preferences.

Cookies help websites work properly, understand how visitors use them, and sometimes remember choices you have made so you do not have to repeat yourself.

They do not typically contain personal information on their own, and they cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your device.
